Violet Ends

Violet never expected to take the crown, nor have to enter an arranged marriage. She abhors the idea of spending the rest of her life with a strange man. So, when the random selection chooses a woman to rule by Violet’s side, she’s ecstatic. Until she discovers the woman is a member of the rebels, hell bent on bringing the old royal family back. Violet’s uncle advises her to kill her new wife before she causes any fuss. But as time moves on, they grow closer, and Violet discovers two things: her family’s dark history and that’s she falling head over heels in love. With the country moving toward a civil war, Violet must decide whose side she’s on before the country decides for her.

She painted Ralph realistically. Her hands fell against the parchment in dainty lines. You could see the sun from the window reflecting off his eyes.
I painted my toes while she painted me. But unlike Ralph, she painted me in color, thrashed strokes and scattered lines. My lips parted, my mouth open. My eyes looked hungry. I looked at her and wondered what she saw in me. I wondered what hunger she felt I hold.
